Alicante Spain covers life in Spain from the perspective of La Mata Matt. Originally from the UK moving to Spain in 2014 with his family from the Philippines. As such we cover as many topics as we can on a regular basis, as we have children many topics cover family life such as getting the kids into school and day to day life.
We try to capture information that is good for a tourist as well as people living in Spain or looking to move here. But also adding in things we find useful or may be of benefit to others. For example, although a water filter is hardly ever fitted in the UK. In Spain, we recommend installing in many areas due to water quality issues. Can be to protect a water heater and pipework or fitting a filter for drinking water due to issues with the local reservoir. But ultimately we are sharing advice and thoughts and the final decision is always yours as such you won't find us pushing any sales onto people. As quite simply we want to help and share our knowledge.

Specsavers I find the quality isnt great. Going to try one of the Spanish stores next week for a change. Working on spreadsheets, so not Spain being the issue just bordem from paperwork.

Hey Matt we're coming out to Playa Flamenca in July and I've heard a few rumblings about the Orihuela council neglecting that part of the area a bit, like the beaches and general maintenance! Have you heard anything?
If I get time next week will take a drive down. Which part do you normally go to?
@@LaMataMatt Cheers were on Calle Violetas Playa Flamenca we go to La Zenia a lot! We're there for August near the beach but it's still going to be better than here what ever👍
Spain has some bazar laws . If you own a property in spain and you go away for two or three days and person brakes in and decides it’s a nice place and he stays there more that 24 hours he has the right to stay in you house until you tell the police and they will tell you what to do next . You must start processing paperwork at the local court so you can get this person out. This can take up to four years and hopefully you get your property back now when you see your lovely apartment or house door will be gone chairs table tv everything you had will be gone plus all the damage to walls bathroom nothing left in the kitchen and probably everything in the bathrooms as well . If you want to keep your property safe have a company come round and alarm system in maybe securitas direct or similar . It’s around € 50 euros a month and it will save you thousands in solicitors fees or paying for all the repair to your property.🙏🏿Just some straight advice .hope you don’t get caught like this . Moving back in when they are out is the best option. Have a locksmith on standby.

Hi Matt, The signs says they are constructing toilets at points 4 and 5. MD 👍Thanks for another informative video, I agree about the graffiti, it really does let the areas around the Costa Blanca down. Especially if you have to look out onto it, I take it you have spoken to the Chinese restaurant across the street and asked them to tidy it up or is that not the done thing? What makes it worse is when they use mindless swear words or sexual content. Maybe if you made a photo album of all the tagging around La Mata and presented that to the Town Hall it may get their attention. On a more POSITIVE note, I am really impressed how the town councils are trying to improve the area all along the coast with painting properties and new plans for pedestrian areas ect.. MD 😃
The restaurant the Chinese is another business. Empty at the moment, unlikely to change this season with the boardwalk still under construction. As it goes to the beach side. Good idea on collecting photos etc. As it demonstrates how much there is a need to tidy it up. As its not everywhere but very negative impact. Thanks for the translation on the signage.

Tony Mels has gone then, my grandson will be devastated this summer! I've been to Carl Jr's in the States and they weren't the best over there!

Hi Matt, Great video, a lot more positive than the last one!!! 😂 Found the glare from window a little difficult to watch though. We have just bought an apartment in the Parquemar complex in La Mata and will be heading down for the summer, just me and misses. Interesting few points you made about supporting the kids. Our two children have just joined the property ladder, my son is 19 and we have been renovating his house, similar to you, I have acquired some skills over the years and enjoyed showing him a thing or two and generally making memories, we do laugh uncontrollable at times! Although he is a qualified gas engineer so that helps. My daughter (22) went for a new build as not into renovation but has bought this on her own. Very proud of both of them but it has taken a chunk out of our finances to get them there but that's part of what we are there I there for (to a point). As for mobile phones go, now that they no longer live with us they are the best devices ever, we can facetime and snapchat, every day if we want to check in and make sure they are ok so pros and cons I guess. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and knowledge which is unusual for a supporter of the Brotherhood of steel is it not? Keep up the good work and regular updates. Kind regards, MD.
Thanks for the comment, yes the brotherhood of steel had different alignments. We picked up the flag at the recent anime event in Torrevieja. Yes it's difficult for younger generations, it was hard enough for us. Getting to spend more time with the kids lately is good. Yes more upbeat and positive, if it's downbeat normally someone at work causing me issues lol.
To rent a room in London, £800+ pm 😱. Great idea to move to a farm. April loves growing flowers/veg so she'll be very happy!
Yes London prices are eye-watering. I am nearly at 500 for a room in Northampton. But getting the farm going gives the family and friends a retreat. As it will be a space to chill and get out of the grind. So not a fully operational farm, more around sustainable and tranquility.
We'd gladly come and stay on the farm and help out no problem chief 👌

Yes, they have altered it a bit. As a Taco bell and others are up there now aswell.

I think all three things you mentioned have a common thread, UK and Spain anti-immigrant stance and Palestine, all three are about respecting and preserving indigenous peoples rights, i think its important to be honest.
The problem with everything being inclusive is destruction of indigenous people 100%. The politics aspects are the layer of arguing, but reality is from my perspective I am tired of the destruction of Britain. I love Spain, respect the people and country and don't demand anything. But yet in the UK find we are even told how to think.
@@LaMataMatt I hear you but most of the Spanish people dont think like that, to them its a person occupying their land, they dont see it as a benefit, i mean we have 1 million indians coming into the UK a year, do most of them work? Yes, do we want them? no, the increase in people drive down wages, congest our infrastructure, resources etc. but honestly spain is far behind in terms of their human rights etc. a poor foreign person would truly be left to rot there.
@Another534 but for me, I believe in people paying their own way. It's not for the Spain or the UK to carry anyone. The devaluation of labour as you say is a good example of why not to support excessive immigration. Your delivery drivers for takeaways are seeing at least 50% less than what they should earn due to saturation. The low skilled jobs are disappearing at an excessive rate, meaning the situation will only get worse. The less people in my wallet the better.
Landing at Alicante is amazing and getting the taxi to La Zenia is an amazing feeling, Spain isn't perfect though by no means but it's actually so calming!!!! But that train to the pink salt lakes from Torrevieja is bloody brutal😃
